WHERE oh WHERE HAVE I BEEN

EGYPT - SHOOTING! WOW what an amazing experience....from the minute we landed in the airport I felt the presence of MEN. This country is all male. Contrasted with the distinctly feminine Malaysia.
The men kiss each other in greeting and are very emotional. There were passionate fights on set, every day. Super drama! But all in all it was a mind blowing experience and I love the limited taste I have had of this wildly historical, dramatic country. My work here is some of the best. I feel it is a work of total appreciation for these beautiful people. I am so grateful for this......

Next week I am grading the pictures in Istambul! Turkey. The GAY capital of the world. My two dear producers who came with me...are going to love it!

WRITING ROMANTIC COMEDY

laugh laugh laugh......creating a laugh!
writing romantic comedy is like playing jokes on paper and hoping you can imagine people laughing, and not making a fool of yourself......I've sold myself out...writing something light....because
1. its fun
2. it's therapeutic
3. cos if that's what it takes to open a door...so be it
4. good practice

MOVING AWAY FROM HORROR

PLACENTA is finished and I think it is good. I will sit on it for a while. THE MOST AMAZING THING - is that I have started writing a romantic comedy! and I love it!!!

Im so excited....I think Astro will love it! cos they love all that love stuff. But the characters are so adorably crazy so it's not too smaltzy....the characters are based on my friends! there is a evil gay guy with a mean mouth.....a nasty bitter lead female singer....oh I could go on......but I would be giving it away!

so bye bye horror for a while...hello COMMERCIAL ESCAPISM ! STAY TUNED!

WRITING THE SCRIPT

I've been tackling my script again! battling the urge to run away from writing...It SUCKS, it's SCARY, it's FRIGHTENING.....writing is bloodcurdlingly treacherous and dangerous to your mental health....I promised myself that this script will be shot next year....and get approval by the end of THIS year....so I have to push myself!!

I don't recommend this kind of creative torture! I don't know HOW so many good scripts were written without computers! how how how!! and I don't have any excuse!

Just shot Celcom X-PAX commercial. a LONG ALL NIGHT SHOOT I will show stills from it soon. A purple explosion of happiness. So I am dying to get back to some GOOD ol'fashion horror..some grit...I have to take a break and rework the first draft of my horror movie.. I desperately need to shoot some horror soon....

REAL gem's - ok diamonds!

Shoot over and it was really fun. One of those shoots where there is a nice camaraderie during and especially when we wrapped. This job started with a little negative energy from me, I admit, and I was lucky enough to work with some adorable gems. Production team and art department, some of my favorites. Even Kenneth, the charming bubble head cutie pie, made an appearance back in production after calling it quits, to build a trucking empire. He rushed back to production after he realized that a truck tire costs 2,000!

I must say it is ALWAYS nice working with Eric.

He is one of my TOP favorite D.O.P's to work with. Something about that killer smile and his damn fine attitude and talent. I have a HUGE soft spot for men who are really into their work. It is magic that rubs off on me. Thank you to Eric and ALL the crew.
My dear Eric is off to shoot a feature film and thou secretly I would love it to be mine....I am sure mine will happen in time. I wish him the absolute best!

I am outwardly confident and inwardly JELLO.......with my internal vital organs reduced to a full load rinse cycle....I can't for the life of me think of anything creative for my deadline on a music video!
